Wordless Wednesday & Other Carnivals: Laundry Detergent Refills Anyone?

 Blogging 001

No, I haven't been paid or even asked to promote Sun & Earth today (just so you at the FTC know) but I am using this picture from our local Earth Mart because I think the idea is just so cool (and I think the people at Sun & Earth and the Earth Mart are cool)!

I've been skipping around the blogosphere this AM and seeing many saying "haven't been blogging lately, but . . . " So glad to know I am not alone! Fall is tough but you do begin to miss the online friends you have made. Time to plan some more REAL LIFE ENCOUNTERS!

(Don't you love when you start recognizing names on these carnivals. You feel the world become a smaller place!)

I also included this in a belated What I Learned This Week over at Musings of a Housewife. Lots of good lessons being learned out there. Wish we had time to write them all!

Wordless Wednesday: Grandma comes to the party

Mom, see, you were at the party and had cake! Your hat has gotten a little worn though. Time for a new party hat.

Laura certainly enjoyed her cake!

Wordless Works for Me Wednesday: CurlyQ Cuties

Worksforme "Look MOM! Monsters are REAL!" I first learned of this little make-your-own monster company when they followed me on Twitter of all places. I thought – how cute – and had to check it out.Picture 017

See my review of these unique design-you-own CurlyQ Cuties on Reviewsings.com. My girls really enjoyed the experience of designing the stuffed pillow monsters and receiving the actual items in the mail! Although perhaps older than the intended audience, they were delighted with the funny creations and have been enjoying showing them to friends. Works for me!

For more Works for Me Wednesdays, go check out Shannon's weekly roundup at Rocks in My Dryer. Sounds like Shannon is getting ready to fly out for the big blogging conference this weekend – Blissdom 09. Woohoo. Me too, me too!

(Just saw a contest I HAVE to add: Click here to learn about the MAID FOR ME blogging contest where you win a year of FREE maid service! I could really use this service from Bid My Cleaning because I just really don't like to clean. I enjoy so much more in life but I do love a clean house and this would really be awesome.)

Wordless Wednesday: Meeting Other Bloggers

The holidays filled quickly with fun events, seeing lots of family & friends. At one event, a blogging event nonetheless, I got to ask two incredible bloggers (and friends) what they learned from blogging.

2bloggers

Colleen and Jo-Lynne

I thought video might not be considered wordless so I added in the picture ABOVE I captured from the video BELOW of Colleen from Classy Mommy and Jo-Lynne Musings of a Housewife, taken at the Graco-sponsored Christmas bloggers party held at Colleen's lovely house. (Thank you, Graco, for the awesome set of Rubbermaid! Good to see you lovely ladies again.)

Lots more great Philly Mom Bloggers and other local bloggers came by for a wonderful time of meet-and-greet & incredible treats and I feel terrible for taking so long to blog about it!

I am combining a product review with Wordless Wednesday. Is that totally terrible?

Disney has come out with a board game for Wheel of Fortune, using Disney movies as their theme. The online description reads:

Disney Wheel of Fortune includes such classics as Cinderella, The Lion King, Snow White, Ratatouille, Monsters Inc. and Toy Story. It is a combination of two all-time family favorites. Combine the puzzle-solving fun of Wheel of Fortune with the magic of Disney-Pixar movies and you get a game that's entertaining for the whole family. Spin the Mickey Mouse wheel, and then ask for a letter to the puzzle. Categories include: Heroes and Heroines, Villains, Movie Titles, Song Titles and more. Collect Disney dollars for uncovering letters and solving the puzzles. Game includes Mickey Mouse wheel, three interchangeable sections, Disney characters frame, 24 puzzle cards with 96 puzzles puzzle board with backing, two legs, Disney play money, wipe pad, rules and solutions booklet. For two to four players.

As a mom of many toys, I'll say some games come along at just the right time. My girls, age 10 & 11, keep pulling out this game to play with each other and friends.

My girls' ages were perfect for this item since they have seen most of the Disney movies. A few still stumped them. To make it the most fun, you really do need a host or someone not officially playing to check the answer when people guess. If two are playing and someone has to check, that person is immediately out. The Disney Wheel of Fortune is easily put together but it was a little tricky taking apart for storage since the cardboard backing slips into tabs that need to come undone when you are putting the game away.

Regardless, the girls still enjoy this game. The price seems a little high at $25 but it does get the whole family involved and creates an opportunity to get away from the computer, TV and DS games.
