Social Media & Me

Follow Me on Pinterest

As you probably already know, social media has changed our world and I love it. I love the instant interaction, tweeting, facebooking and more. I also love getting together with other bloggers at events and conferences to swap stories and learn new techniques.

In short, I am a columnist, a digital media adjunct professor, media content provider across the web, social media know-it-all and mom of two teens. See below for the variety of media connections I’ve made around the web and the world.

As for my review & giveaway policy, I am willing to work with companies that fit with my family-based values and who respect my time. At a minimum, I expect to keep a sample of what I am reviewing. I have also participated in a number of campaigns recently that pay for my time & blog space by sponsoring posts, tweets and Facebook entries through their advertising and marketing budget rather than standard PR (or they see my work as an extension of their PR team and budget accordingly). I offer full disclosure for my posts in which I receive anything of value in return for posting on my blog.

Read HERE for a post I wrote on Why Monetizing Your Blog Is About Doing What You Love and Doing it Well.

My Background: I started writing online as a paid freelancer three years ago with a site called Story of My Life where I interviewed people with incredible stories and posted them online. Through blogging connections, I also contributed frugal articles to Blissfully Domestic, make-up reviews to Chic Critique (now, AllThingsChic.net), parenting aricles to Parenting Squad, and articles about life to Philly Moms Blog. I have also guest posted in a number of other spots. I am also an active member of Philly Social Media Moms, and involved in campaigns through Rolemommy, Mom Central. BSM Media (or Mom Select), The Motherhood, SheSpeaks, Philly Social Media Moms and ChildsPlay Communications. I am now the Media Traveling Mom on TravelingMom.com

Because of my online experience (and my Masters), I was hired two years ago to teach Writing for the Media & Communication Theory at a local college (and still do, having created both classes into online options for the college). At the same time, I became a columnist in the local paper which lead to my other site DIYFrugal.com and lead to paid researched review articles on Cheapism.com.

As soon as I get some time, I will be posting some of the specific campaigns I have participated in (see below) but for now, feel free to browse my blog and enoy the ride!

Contact me directly to discuss details if you wish to work with me or my “sphere of influence” as we bloggers like to say! I prefer posting on a good cause any day but I also love entertainment, cooking, clothing and gadgets for my growing teen girls (since they are beyond toys now)! {However, I do have young nieces and nephews in all ranges of educational toys.} I am also available for social media consultation and planning. If I can’t help you, I am sure I know someone who can.

Below you can see some brands I’ve worked with and
promotions I’ve enjoyed participating in:

(And, her intro about the three types of bloggers: Entertainers, Promoters and Consultants – my idea totally. I made that up on the way to the interview because I thought it categorized the industry in a neat and clean way. Ask me more if you are interested!)
