How-To: Peanut Butter Blossoms Chex® Mix Recipe

Take me to a party and the first thing I grab for is the Chex® Mix Bowl. In fact, if you want to know my favorite treat to make over the holidays, it’s the good old-fashioned Original Chex® Mix Party Mix baked in a large roasting pan, drizzled with a mixture of butter, Worcestershire sauce, season salt, onion and garlic powder. Ohhh… yummm….

But, this holiday, new flavors of Chex® Mix are hitting the shelves broadening the variety of Chex® Mix possibilities. With Honey Nut Chex® Cereal, you can make Iced Pumpkin Chex® Mix or the Peanut Butter Blossoms Chex® Mix shown below or so much more.

You wouldn’t believe all the new recipes, many of which have gluten-free options with all the gluten-free Chex® cereals available. With a little help from the microwave, many of these recipes have been reduced to an easy 15 minute prep time.

I recently received a whole kit from my favorite Chex® peeps along with several party recipes.

Chex Mix Party Supplies

I chose the Peanut Butter Blossoms recipe since we love chocolate and peanut butter in our house!

Peanut Butter Blossoms Chex® Mix:
Peanut Butter Blossoms Chex Mix

3 cups Corn Chex® cereal

3 cups Honey Nut Chex® cereal

1 Tablespoon butter or margarine

1/2 cup peanut butter

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup gluten-free swirled milk chocolate and peanut butter morsels

1. Microwave butter, peanut butter and brown sugar on high for 1-2 minutes, until boiling (stirring after 1 minute).

2. In a microwaveable bowl, mix Corn and Honey Nut Chex cereals. Pour butter-sugar mixture over cereal and stir until evenly coated.

3. Microwave for 4 minutes, stirring and scraping the bowl every minute. (Note: Instructions indicate another 2 minutes but my mixture started burning and I had to stop after 4 minutes with my microwave.)

4. Stir in half of chips (which immediately melt and form yummy clumps in the cereal.) Let cool for 5 minutes and add in remaining chips.

5. Spread on wax paper to cool and store in airtight container or give as gifts in special little gift boxes or use clean glass jars with a colorful ribbon.

And then in a pinch, before I had time to make my own concoction, guess what I found at the grocery store on my way to a party? DARK CHOCOLATE CHEX MIX. Oh, lala. So yummy. I really didn’t want to share AT ALL… but I did  . . . at least until I was on my way home with leftovers since I left early. Nothing left in that bowl when I got home!
