Check out Ragu’s new contest for a $5,000 college scholarship for YOUR child

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of visiting with several very special guests in NYC as Ragu announced it’s new Recipe for a Good Start contest for a $5,000 college scholarship!

First I’ll give you the contest details (so you can get busy with your chance to win!) and then keep reading for some fun lunch pictures with some faces you just may recognize!

Ragú® offers moms  hundreds of nutritious, convenient, delicious and affordable meal ideas- perfect for busy families on the go. From making sure the kids get their veggies (Ragú® red sauces contain more than a full serving of veggies in every half cup of sauce) to skip-a-step recipes like No Boiling Lasagna and No Frying Chicken Parmesan, Ragú® understands your hectic lifestyle and desire to feed your family quality meals at a great value.

Now, Ragú® is teaming up with actress and mom Molly Ringwald to promote the Recipe for a Good Start Contest asking moms to share their recipes for a good start for a chance to win a $5,000 college scholarship.  By visiting www.recipeforagoodstart.com, you’ll have a chance to submit your recipe for a good start in life and your original Ragú® recipe that has the family running to the dinner table! Three first prize winners will be awarded a family trip to New York City where they will compete in a nationally televised Ragú® Recipe Challenge for the chance to win the ultimate prize of a $5,000 college scholarship.

Hanging with Molly Ringwald

Here I am with the lovely Molly Ringwald who shared that she JUST HAD TWINS – 8 months ago. Wow, the woman was amazing as a teenager in Sixteen Candles and Pretty in Pink and continues her amaziness into mommyhood!

Here I am with Food Network chef Marcela Valladolid who is also amazing and so very sweet. Love that necklace, by the way! I couldn’t pull it off but I am grateful to those who can! And, then of course, I saw some of my favorite mommy bloggers!

What a fun day we had! We first heard from Molly about the contest and then the women were broken into three groups who rotated through lunch with Food Network chef Marcela Valladolid, then around to nutritional tips with registered dietitian and author Felicia Stoler, followed by a chance to make no-bake lasagna. We were assured that our culinary efforts would be baked and taken to a good cause.

Here I am with Sarah the chef! I shared with her the recipe I was submitting for the contest and I am happy to say she liked it! Let’s hope I win now. Then, I can share it with all of you!

Following the Ragu event, several ladies made their way to Chelsea Markets where we enjoyed chocolate goodies and hair & make-up tips with Dove Chocolate and IVillage. I walked over on such a gorgeous day with Jen from Connect with Your Teens. Walking down the side streets of NYC is always an interesting experience. Spots of color you wouldn’t expect: interesting people, diving pigeons, tables of used books, little corner markets with flowers and wood and so much more.

And, the day wasn’t over YET! My sister just happened to be in town on business and like a cherry on top of a chocolate sundae, we were able to enjoy a quick dinner in a small cafe in Penn Station before we took the train to Trenton where I popped in my car and drove the hour home where I got hugs and kisses from my growing girlies before an early bedtime!

Disclosure: I was entered for a chance to win a Ragú® family package in exchange for this post (thanks to MomSelect). No monetary exchange took place (for writing this post – that is) but I did enjoy a delightful day in NYC where I did go home with some cool swag and my travel expenses were covered.
