Two for One Sale on Sick Kids

Once again, it is Monday. I have TWO classes to teach and TWO sick kids at home. At some point today, we need to fit in a trip to the doctor's. The girls have been fighting a nasty bug and we really do need to check to see if it is the flu. Brian has been super sick too and it has been over a week now. Not good.


Yesterday, I went to the pharmacy and bought Fish Oil, Centrum Vitamins for Women, and a book called "A Woman's Guide to Vitamins, Herbs, and Supplements" by Deborah Mitchell. I also headed over to and bought "Master Your Metabolism" by Jillian Michaels & "The 6-Week Cure for the Middle-Aged Middle" by Michael Eades. Yes, I am 40 and feeling it!


I did so well to take off 15 pounds last year and THEIR BACCKKKK! – kinda like a warped Jack Nicolson, the tormenting reminder that I have to get rid of the SAME pounds AGAIN before working on the 15 I want to lose after that. The new digital scale I bought is peering up at me like – hey, I just got here, don't blame the messenger.

Oh the joys. Last year, I lost the weight by eating no carb/ low carb and exercising regularly. This year, I have still been exercising but not religiously. I have also been allowing myself to eat too much. I just love food, the taste, the texture, the joys of delicious flavors that are almost always fattening – at least in the amounts I eat them in.

My friend actually sent me the reference to the Eades book, which from what I see in reviews, basically tells you to drink shakes and one sensible meal for two weeks in an Atkins style induction. Then, the second half of the book is simply a recipe book. Hmmmm . . ..  We'll see whether I wasted money or not. I always find something interesting in different diet books.

I bought all of these books because I CAN feel my body changing and I HATE the way I feel right now. I feel so much better with the weight off – in my joints and around my heart. Time to keep up the fight because I know it will ONLY GET WORSE if I don't.

What do you do for exercise in the winter? I want a Wii & Wii Fit. My husband wants the PS3 with new wands like the Wii. What do I do? I don't want something that encourages any more butt sitting than we already do! Gotta move it, move it. . .

Anyway, for now, I am going to go move it, move it on my little trampoline in the basement that doubles nicely for stepper. I like it because you don't have to go anywhere and you can do light arm weights while you move.

    I hear you! South Beach seems to be the ticket for us. But, we lack discipline. DH and I lost a ton of weight last year. But, it’s back:( I think I’m ready to purge my pantry of all the bad stuff and jump back in!

  2. We have a Wii Fit, and we aren’t using it.
    I’m considering selling it. LOL

    I’m actually on the same journey right now. I have about 10 lbs to go, and the motivation to do it since I feel so bad when I’m eating poorly.
