Brain Zaps

Have you ever woken up with an electrical shock flashing white lightening through the center of your brain? I would love to say I can’t relate but I can and did at 5 AM  this morning. It shook me for the whole day.

So, I googled “Brain Zap.” Apparently, in an unofficial search of the internet, this can be a side effect of withdrawal from serotonin related antidepressants and can cause serious damage if you don’t resume the drug of choice. Only one problem here. I have never taken antidepressants and my husband doesn’t cook so I know he couldn’t be slipping me anything – not that he would – I don’t think.

So, here is a little video I found about brain zaps: (even though I can’t say for certain if this is what I had, it is interesting for anyone on antidepressants to watch. I give it one star for clever, artistic composition.) Now, I am scared. Ever experience these? Must be stress. I don’t know why. I lead such a boring life (with the exception of two growing daughters, a multi-tasking husband and a life-eating dog and a few other things I won’t go into here but you will hear about in various posts.) Oh, did I say my car battery died today too? Electrical mishaps have been my theme of today!

  1. I think you should call your doctor.
Could this be related to a stroke? or migraine?
