My sister and her half marathon!

Wfmwsmall Today it works for me to give over the blogging reins to my sister, Michele: (For more Works For Me Wednesdays check out Rocks in My Dryer!)

Hello friends and family,

As surprising as this may sound to those of you who know the historically non-athletic me, I'm training to participate in the Philadelphia Distance Run  – a half marathon!!!   Some people have a mid-life crisis and buy a convertible – well, this is my convertible!

The event is on
September 21, 2008 and I am doing this to raise funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) as a participant in their Team In Training program. I'm asking you to help by making a small donation to my fundraising campaign, or by forwarding this email to others who may be interested.  Please use the link in this email to donate online quickly and securely plus learn more about my progress.  You will receive a confirmation of your donation by email and I will be notified as soon as you make your donation.

Each donation helps accelerate finding a cure for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. More than 712,000 Americans are battling these blood cancers.   I am hoping that my participation in Team In Training will help bring them hope and support.  On behalf of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, thank you very much for your support.  I greatly appreciate your generosity.

It will definitely be a journey – will let you know when I survive!

P.S. I would appreciate it if you would forward this email to as many people as you can to encourage them to donate as well.

P.P.S.  Come out and see the run – that will definitely be worth a few laughs!

Thanks again, Michele

Awesome! I am also hoping to run the Distance Run in philly if I'm not injured and can get back in shape. In 1999 I ran a Team in Training Marathon in Anchorage Alaska, it was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life – both the raising the money for Leukemia and running a marathon! Good luck.

Definitely do the Distance Run – will be fun to compare training notes on this blog! I'm really impressed by the Alaska Marathon – I can't even imagine 13 miles right now!!
